| By the time Dylan Hodgins was born the existence of other species living among humans was already commonly known throughout the world. The war with zombies was heading towards it's twilight, but a new war began to take it's place. Factions of all kinds started to pop-up wanting their piece of the pie, a place in this dead waste land to call home. Many roamed around the lands hunting the remaining zombies and each other. Actually, being a child was nonexistent in this new world, you were expected to hunt the moment you could hold a weapon.
Being a child born to a group of nomad human scavengers in the deadlands, Dylan's early life was the same old story. The instant he picked up a weapon he was told to fight and steal. By his teens years he was already looked at as one of the tribal leaders. He was sent out into the deadlands day after day pillaging anyone he came across. One day he devised a plan to hit a small market in one of the growing towns his people have been hearing about, figuring if the rumors were true this one score could feed his people for months. They were able to get the food and supplies they were after, however Hodgins was caught while distracting some city folks so his crew could escape.
He spent nearly a year in their makeshift prison, simply a house that the volunteer city folks guarded. He knew if he really wanted, he could overpower these people and escape. Even though he grew up in this lawless life he knew what he did was wrong. They were just trying to survive in this new world just like he was, but they were banding together to survive all species coming together unlike him. Everything changed the night a Zombie Queen and her horde attacked. The town folks were over matched. These people were teachers, bakers, builders not many were fighters. Dylan, however, was a fighter. He joined a group of people that looked like they could handle themselves and started fighting back. By the end of the battle he was no longer their prisoner, Dylan was their savoir.
He was one of founding members of the Freedom Fighters, along with his best friend Hoskins Vanderline. They spent years recruiting and fighting off anyone that intended to do their city harm, as the borders begin to expand the Freedom Fighters became the City Guard. They were tasked with keeping the city safe both from the outside and inside. They offered Hodgins the position of Guard Chief numerous times only to be told no each time, deciding that his role would be leading and teaching the new recruits how to keep his beloved home safe.
